Low Profile Dielectric Rod Tuned Reconfigurable Band Pass Filters

A novel low profile mechanical tuning technique is introduced in this paper to change the center frequency of substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) based reconfigurable bandpass filters (BPF), by loading dielectric rods different permittivity resonant cavities and coupling apertures. The simple, cost-effective (rods are machined from conventional substrates), same physical structure provides a wide tuning. First, tunability SIW cavity resonator theoretically explained then estimated with help full-wave 3D EM simulator electrical equivalent circuit. This concept extended coupled BPF loaded followed analysis maintaining constant bandwidth. Following technique, studied for arrangements inside BPFs. characteristics fabricated experimentally validated. It shown that can be achieved simply varying all simultaneously. proposed further obtaining wider bandwidth using dissimilar permittivities look up table. These designs demonstrate simple passive achieving high Q-factors range 102–210.5, lowest insertion loss <2dB above 10 GHz, X-band. developed advanced high-speed, long-distance, fixed wireless connectivity rural area at cost. also used temperature compensation overcoming fabrication uncertainty.
